The beautiful and expansive Berchida Beach lies just a few kilometres south of Siniscola, about six kilometres from the junction for Cala Ginepro. Stretching for several kilometres and around fifty metres wide, this beach is one of Sardinia’s true gems. Its sand is incredibly fine and light grey in colour, and it’s washed by crystal-clear waters that shift in tone from green to brilliant turquoise.
Widely considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Italy — and with good reason — Berchida takes its name from an old roadman’s house (casa cantoniera) located along the SS125 highway. Just nearby, a dirt road leads down to a large parking area close to the beach.
The beach forms a natural barrier to the Berchida River, creating a lagoon teeming with wildlife — home to many different species, some of them quite rare. The lagoon also serves as a watering spot for the cattle and sheep that graze freely in the surrounding countryside. Behind the beach, you can still find traces of ancient Nuragic settlements and the remains of the medieval village of Rempellos.
Berchida Beach is truly a magical place for anyone looking to spend a peaceful, relaxing day by the sea. Thanks to its vast size, it never feels crowded — even in the height of summer — and it’s perfect for long, quiet walks along the shore.
Facilities include a beach bar, sunbed and umbrella rentals, and the possibility to hire canoes and pedal boats. There’s also a large paid car park nearby, making access easy and convenient.
Below you’ll find some beautiful images of the beach — and we warmly encourage everyone reading this to plan a visit to this wonderful spot.
For guests staying in our apartments in Tanaunella, Berchida is just a 30–40 minute drive away.
